Carpet types and the difference they make

Carpet offers seemingly endless possibilities for appearance and characteristics. They can be matched in ways that will work best for your home, thus giving you plenty of options from which to choose. We want to provide you with a little more information about the types of flooring available to you in this product line so that you can make a truly informed decision, no matter your need.

Let’s tackle the types of carpet

There are three main styles of carpeting:
  • Loop Pile – This style has yarns that are not cut once they are woven through the backing material. Featuring both level and multi-level piles, you get a range of visuals, along with outstanding performance in high traffic spaces.
  • Cut Pile – The fibers of this type are cut with various twists creating more or less resilience. In this category, you’re likely to see Saxony, plush, textured plush, shag, frieze, and cable.
  • Cut-Loop Pile – This is a combination of both cut and loop pile, with extensive visual and performance options.

When it comes to fiber, you'll find carpet flooring to be divided as follows:
  • Nylon – Versatile, stain-resistant, and resilient, you'll find the nylon to provide an excellent option in some of your busiest spaces.
  • Polyester – Holding color very well, you’ll find this fiber to be an affordable option while still offering excellent performance.
  • Polypropylene – Also referred to as olefin, you’ll find this carpet to be resistant to water, stains, and fading, making it perfect for Berber carpet options.
  • Triexta – This style offers both nylon and polyester characteristics, with durability, stain resistance, fade resistance, and outstanding softness.
  • Wool – The only all-natural floor covering, wool is luxurious, stain-resistant, and retards flames.
